The Brief

TONA were tasked with supplying and installing canteen, collaboration, and bespoke furniture for a comprehensive canteen refurbishment project. The canteen, spanning an area of 13,500 sq ft, serves over 800 staff members.

Our goal was to create an inviting and functional space that caters to the needs of the staff, promoting collaboration and enhancing the overall experience.

The Works

The successful execution of the canteen refurbishment project was achieved through a client direct contract, where our office fit out and design company worked closely with the client’s project manager. Recognising the importance of maintaining seamless operations during the renovation, our team meticulously planned the installation process to minimise disruptions to the canteen’s daily activities.

The installation was strategically scheduled to take place over a carefully phased approach, spanning five days. This rolling phased process ensured that specific sections of the canteen were temporarily closed off for refurbishment while keeping the remaining areas fully operational. By carefully coordinating the installation activities, we were able to limit any inconvenience to the staff and visitors, ensuring continuous access to essential dining facilities.

Throughout the project, our contracts manager played a vital role in overseeing the logistics and coordination. They worked closely with the client’s site project manager to address any challenges, manage the delivery of materials and equipment to the site, and coordinate the installations with precision. By maintaining open lines of communication and collaborating closely, we successfully mitigated any potential disruptions to the canteen operations, delivering a smooth and efficient refurbishment experience.

This collaborative approach allowed us to balance the need for a comprehensive canteen transformation with the necessity to maintain uninterrupted services for the 800+ staff members. The result was an upgraded and aesthetically pleasing canteen space that not only met the client’s vision but also prioritised the seamless functioning of the canteen during the entire refurbishment process.
